Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is currently on a promotional tour and presenting his book “Hit Refresh”. Of course, the central topic is Microsoft, but the book also bears the caption “How Microsoft reinvented itself and changed the future”. A probably rather serious remark by Nadella that has caused a stir.
The rivalry between Microsoft and Apple is legendary, with both companies firing a number of spikes towards their competitors over the years and decades. In recent years, however, it was again quieter in this regard. Apple and Microsoft worked in many areas such as Office relatively close together. After a certain remark by Satya Nadella, some see the old rivalry back, but you can probably call the same as exaggerated.
At the presentation of his book Hit Refresh in his native country India, Nadella entered a room with journalists and saw some people using an iPad to work. Nadella said they should get a real computer! Sahil Mohan Gupta, the man this remark was directed to, himself describes this as “playful jarring,” but also says that this is basically at the heart of what Nadella is doing with Microsoft. Thus, the Microsoft boss is confident in the technology his company produces and is not shy about showing that confidence. At the same time, he is modest and true to his roots, Gupta says.

To a detonator, in order to rekindle the rivalry between Apple and Microsoft, the remark certainly does not fit – even if some observers and scribes would like to see them. iPhone X, Apple’s latest offering, has a lot of technical problems. So maybe Satya Nadella is right after all!
