iPhone X Cold Weather Bug
Apple has released iOS 11.1.2. The update is now available on all supported iPhone, iPad and iPod touch owners. This new version is a pure maintenance update. It mainly brings stability improvements and bug fixes and no new features. The software update is available in the usual way as an Over-The-Air (OTA) update or via iTunes. You can initiate the update manually by searching in the settings for an update ( general / software update), or alternatively automatically update yourself at a pre-selected time using the auto-update function.
For the owners of the new iPhone X, the update should come very convenient because temperature fluctuations are common in now due to the onset of winter cold temperatures, and the new smartphone had some problems. If the temperature dropped sharply, it could happen that the device’s touch detection fail completely.
For the new version, Apple has published a short note listing the changes. There it says:
- Resolves an issue where the iPhone X screen temporarily stops responding to a rapid temperature drop.
- Fixes an issue that may cause distortion in live photos and videos taken with the iPhone X.
- Fixes an issue that could cause the device to restart after receiving a long message in Arabic.
Apple is also working at full speed on the version 11.2 of iOS. With the new version, the group wants to introduce not only an improved wireless charging function but also the Sirikit for the HomePod, an improved control center, new live wallpapers for the iPhone X and support for the new Apple Pay Cash. The update is expected to iOS 11.2 next month.
